BIZA$SIST:   Small Business Education and Loans

BIZA$IST is a partner with Regions II, III & IV WORK4WV Career Centers. Orientations and classes are held at the WORK4WV Career Center sites whenever possible. Through this partnership, BIZA$IST is also able to offer training at no charge to WIA eligible clients. Veterans may attend training at no charge through The Upward Bound Program. The Small Business Development Centers provide one on one counseling to students free of charge and also provide expert guest speakers for the classes. SCORE provides valuable counseling services to BIZA$IST clients and helps them connect with business experts throughout West Virginia Communities.

Business Success:   National statistics show that 80% of all new businesses fail within the first two years, but that start-up businesses with access to mentoring, training, peer networks and start-up capital are more likely to succeed. BIZA$SIST is a partnership of dozens of community service and financial institutions committed to helping people start and run successful businesses, including the West Virginia Small Business Development Centers (SBDC), WV Governor's Workforce Investment Board, Small Business Administration (SBA) and The Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE). BIZA$SIST is committed to helping people who have the dream of business ownership but may lack the skills or other resources to get started. Our partners work together to provide training, mentoring, peer networking, loans, and getting products or services to market.

Keys to Success:   Every journey begins with a road map. The journey to business success is no different. Our Business Plan Courses teach students how to "map out" a plan that will lead them to success. Courses cover such topics as market research, industry background, legal and tax planning, risk management, marketing a product/service, pricing for profit, cash flow management and how to secure financing for start-up businesses. We also offer seminars on a variety of business topics.

Financial Success:   One of the most challenging tasks for new business owners is securing capital. Most traditional financial institutions are reluctant to loan money to start-up businesses. BIZA$SIST offers non-traditional financing options in the form of Micro Loans. Working closely with the SBDC, we can help borrowers determine exactly how much capital they need and how to get it.
