Businesses are Hatching at the Incubator!
Unlimited Future, Inc. is a not-for-profit microenterprise development center and business incubator. Our vision is to see a thriving economy supported by successful, locally owned businesses. Our mission is to supply the tools, resources, and connections people need to improve their economic status.
The year of 2019 was a bittersweet for Unlimited Future as we said goodbye to our long-term Executive Director, Gail Patton. We wish Gail the best health and happiness as she begins a new chapter in life. The change in leadership marks a new milestone for Unlimited Future, welcoming our first African American Executive Director, Ursulette Huntley.
Through the support of a National Endowment for the Arts Our Town Grant, a team of collaborators is actively gathering community input to shape the vision for the Central City District over the next 25 years.
Unlimited Future coordinated the local stakeholders and a team of expert consultants through the process. The goal of the economic diversification plan is as follows; “We want a district where people
will stop, spend time, contribute ideas and resources, and weave West Huntington’s threads of brilliance into a robust cultural cloth.” The project will publish an area-wide plan that combines the streetscape, programming, and use, marketing, and brand, as well as the organizational framework needed to execute the plan. The outcome will be more businesses and less vacancy on 14th Street West in Huntington, WV.
Unlimited Future, Inc. (UFI) had three areas of focus this year; expanding services/
brand awareness, coordinating partnerships, and building organizational capacity.
During this time UFI has been laser focused on achieving these goals. The
organization has collaborated and partnered with other organizations to increase
programmatic reach plus ignite economic development in the industry of social
enterprise. Further, UFI has gained a greater impact in the community through our
community development efforts.
Unlimited Future is expanding services/brand awareness with social media to
promote the work of our organization. This goal has also led to collaborative
partnerships with Coalfield Development Corp., Marshall University, Recovery Point,
PROACT, and Cabell Huntington Hospital. Staff is working on revitalization projects in
the Fairfield and West Huntington communities through collaboration with community
residents, local government, and business owners. UFI staff has also attended events
within the neighborhood showcasing clients plus creating awareness of our services.
