#UFI is proud to be part this great project! We are helping to develop #socialenterprises that will provide #jobs for people in #recovery and we are providing training that helps clients gain skills they will need to navigate workplace challenges.“PROACT is an outpatient substance use disorders treatment center. We offer abstinence-based and medication-assisted treatment, individual and group therapy and spiritual care (for those who are interested).

We have social workers who help patients access resources for other issues such as homelessness, lack of insurance or food scarcity.

We have peer coaches who are in long-term recovery and use their own life experiences to guide people. They don’t do therapy or case management, but they serve as mentors who bridge the two together.

We have a CORE (Creating Opportunities for Recovery Employment) grant that provides employment specialists who connect patients with education and job training resources. They also work with employers in the community to encourage the hiring of individuals in long-term recovery.

When you first walk in the door at PROACT, treatment starts on day one. It consists of a comprehensive assessment by a therapist, which informs a diagnosis. Then, we begin to develop a recommendation for a plan of care. The therapist will discuss with the patient what that recommendation is, what they can reasonably expect from treatment, and what the next steps are. If it involves MAT (medically assisted treatment), we quickly schedule them to see a doctor, which takes 4-7 days on average.

The crisis that was hitting this community—numerous overdose deaths and the toll on the populace—inspired this. Everybody was trying to do a little thing, and we thought it was time that we pull some of those resources [together] to do a bigger thing. We opened our door ‪October 1st, and we have about 350 patients who are still with us.”
